Across Borders Finding Roots

Dear Family Historians,
The online portal Archion has been digitizing Protestant church registers for some time, including records from the VFFOW’s research area, and making these documents available to family historians.

Indexing these records is extremely helpful for quickly locating the people and information being sought. In cooperation with Archion, a team of VFFOW volunteers is therefore compiling indexes of births/baptisms, marriages, deaths/burials, and confirmations from the parishes of East and West Prussia.

At the same time, we use the results of this work and gradually incorporate them into this application, including important details and source references. The advantage: people already recorded in the database, as well as those being searched for, can be found quickly. Thanks to the permalink provided, users with an Archion subscription can even access the original entry in the church register directly and, for example, download it.

We hope you enjoy browsing the records and, above all, wish you success in adding to your family history research.
